General Secretary Dr koirala highlights on party unity

6 shawan, Kathmandu : Nepali Congress general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala has said that only one candidate will be in the race for party president outside from the establishment side in the party’s upcoming14th General Convention.

He said so in his address to a virtual programme organised by the BP Koirala Youth Leadership Development Forum to mark the 38th death anniversary of BP Koirala here today. He was of the view that there should be the assimilation to the ‘we feeling’ instead of ‘I feeling’, if the party leaders and cadres aspired to see change in the party leadership. He highlighted the need of change in party leadership in the existing condition.

He accused the party president of trying to influence the party General Convention by forming intra-party departments when the date for the General Convention had been already fixed. The General Secretary announced that he would be compelled to stand against the party president if his unilateral moves did not stop here. He further spoke the need of uniting the party to compete against the Nepal Communist Party, adding that it was essential for the party to follow the path of political, economic and social change shown by BP Koirala. Meanwhile, speaking in a programme in Biratnagar today, party central member Dr Shekhar Koirala stressed that all parties should unite for the causes of democracy and nationality.

Taking part in a tree transplantation programme organised on the occasion of the BP memorial day today, he said this. He went on to say that now nationality had come under crisis and BP’s ideology was equally important and relevant for the promotion of nationality, democracy and for political stability.
