Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said foreign investment could be made after taking permission from the government of Nepal.
In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers raised various questions ranging from the process of the purchase of vehicles for the Ministry, various departments and corporations and embassies in foreign countries, and auctioning malfunctioned vehicles dumped before the offices of these institutions.
The minister responded that the process of vehicle purchase was economical. Responding to queries raised by lawmaker Atahar Kamal Musalman on behalf of lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu that what action process was being initiated on the case that Rs 53 billion has been illegally deposited in a Swiss bank by Nepali citizens, Minister Khatiwada said there would not be proof enough so far on the case.
“Investigations into the case are being launched, the police have been mobilised and a probe committee led by revenue secretary has been formed,” he said. The Ministry would initiate the process based on a proposal made by the respective ministry relating to the purchase of vehicles, he said.
Responding to questions by Pramila Rai on behalf of Dila Sangraula about IIFA Awards, Minister Khatiwada said budget has not been allocated for the awards. Likewise, the minister responded to lawmakers that the government was at work to provide safe drinking water to all Nepalis.
