Kathmandu: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has registered an urgent proposal of public importance at the Parliament today as it seeks to draw the government’s attention towards making appropriate provisions for quarantine and the process of herbs export easier.
The party has highlighted the need of discussions to remove hurdles in herbs export due to quarantine issues. NC lawmakers had registered the document under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. It was proposed by lawmaker Rangamati Shah and backed by Bal Krishna Khand, Dila Sangroula and Prakash Rasai Snehi.
Nepal’s mountainous and hilly parts remain as natural store houses of plants of medicinal virtue. A large number of population is employed here as pickers and human resources used for its processing, storing and the sale. Herbs are a list of among important goods which are exported from the country, the proposal states.
