Kathmandu.The seventh general convention of the BP Thought Society kicked off in Kathmandu Saturday. Inaugurating the convention, Society founding president and Nepali Congress leader Kul Bahadur Gurung was of the view that nationality had become weaker and democracy was at risk because of the rejection to BP Koirala’s political proposal.
Sharing about the objective of the establishment of the society, he said it was established with a view to encouraging the Nepali Congress to follow the BP’s ideology. Former speaker and party former general secretary Taranath Ranabhat said nationality had become weaker due to increasing foreign meddling, underlining the need of sensitizing the local level about BP’s ideology and thoughts. Society co-chair Govinda Raj Joshi said thoughts and ideology was on the top of BP’s life, accusing the present leadership of distancing it from the thoughts and ideology and only exercising the politics of power.
He was of the view of reinstating BP’s ideology in the party. Former minister and NC leader Laxman Prasad Ghimire sought the role of society for the transformation of status of the party leadership. Presenting a report in the convention, Society general secretary Binay Dhwaj Chanda claimed the culture of thoughts was no more in the party and personal interests had gripped it.
Society founder Lokesh Dhakal highlighted the need of making the BP’s thoughts and ideology as part of people’s life. Society treasurer Gita Regmi presented a report of annual income and expenditure of the organisation. Over 300 representatives from 77 districts are taking part in the two-day convention.
