Kathmandu : The main opposition Nepali Congress party has announced a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at consolidating the party organisation. The party declared the ‘himal, pahad, tarai-madhesh’ campaign to begin from coming April 24.
The campaign will be held throughout the year 2076 at all district, region, village, ward and tole level. Informing all about the policy, programmes and new statute of the party, forging national unity and apprising people about the progress made in the past under NC’s leadership are some objectives of the campaign, said the party spokersperson Biswa Prakash Sharma at a press conference held here today.
The campaign will also focus on highlighting the anomalies taking place in the country, including corruption, diplomatic immaturity, negative share market, irregularities in the health sector, intervention in press freedom etc. Membership of all levels will take part in the campaign to be held in three different phases.
The campaign will be inaugurated at the same time in all the 77 districts. Responding to media queries, party Vice-chair Bimalendra Nidhi said the campaign will raise hope in the people who are dejected at the moment. Party General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala on the occasion made it clear that he had voiced for religious freedom and not for a Hindu state.
