Bhajani, April 5 (RSS): Janaki rural municipality of Kailali has purchased a vehicle worth amounting to Rs 8.87 million when merely three months are to go to complete the current fiscal year.
Local stakeholders have complained that the local government was giving emphasis on procuring vehicle instead of focusing on development works and implementation of other programmes.
The locals alleged the people’s elected representatives of being conscious of own comforts rather than public concerns. Public criticism mounted when the rural municipality purchased a new vehicle despite already having an old one.
People commented that the entire public would have been benefitted had the rural municipality purchased ambulance and fire engine. Pradeep Kumar Chaudhar, chief of the rural municipality, informed that the vehicle was purchased by allocating budget from rural assembly.
He further clarified that the vehicular arrangement was made for monitoring development works being carried out in the rural municipality.
They took the decision to procure a new vehicle taking into consideration the growing maintenance expenses, he added. Chaudhary further said the next priority is to purchase ambulance and fire engine which directly concerns the public service.
