Safe motherhood campaign kicks off in Butwal

Rupandehi : In keeping with the pregnant women and lactating mothers involved in different
 forms of labour in urban area, the Butwal Sub-metropolitan City has kicked off safe motherhood 
campaign.

Coinciding the occasion of International Women’s Day-2019, the campaign was initiated by distributing nutrient rich foods to laborer women of Butwal-11, Buddhanagar on Thursday.
The campaign to be run across the sub-metropolitan city includes raising health awareness among laborer women, arrangement of routine health checkups at health facilities and distribution of nourishing foods during lactating period.
Butwal sub-metropolitan city’s Public Health Division is coordinating the campaign.
Initiated under the heading ‘Deputy Mayor Pregnant and Nursing Mother Meet Programme’, the campaign will be expanded to all 19 wards through City Health Centre, Police Health Promotion Center and health facilities of the sub-metropolis.
Mayor Shivaraj Subedi and Deputy Mayor Gumadevi Acharya jointly inaugurated the campaign on Thursday by distributing nutrient rich food, calcium and iron capsules.
