NC demands disclosure of National Education Commission’s report

Kathmandu, Feb 12: In a meeting of the National Assembly which serves as the Upper House in 
the bicameral Federal Parliament of Nepal, the main opposition Nepali Congress today demanded 
to immediately make public the National Education Commission’s report.

Airing his view in a special hour of the session, Radheshyam Adhikari demanded the government to apprise the House about issues in gist incorporated in the interim and major copies of the report. It was a matter of surprise that the government was hiding the issue of public concern.

“The report was expected to be unveiled when it was submitted to the government,” but the House was still unknown about it and the bill developed on the same report could not be accepted.
Sher Bahadur Kunwar sought an immediate relief to the families of those killed and injured in the recent lightning in Achham. “People are facing problems due to lack of local representatives at some local levels and the vacant posts should be fulfilled through by-election,” he said.
Prakash Snehi underlined the need of a judicial inquiry into the issues raised in regard with the procurement process of wide-body aircrafts for the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
Uday Sharma Poudel informed the House that a ban on public vehicles to pick and drop passengers in some routes including Jamal and Bhrikutimandap area had caused inconveniences to the public. He urged the government to make the pick and drop arrangements easier.

Rameshjung Rayamajhi advised the government not to take any move hampering the construction of Birgunj-based BP Park and other structures named after political leaders.
Pramila Kumari stressed that the province government should be allocated the responsibility to formulate the Police Act.
Ram Lakhan Chamar said the lack of formulation of a work procedure relating to interest-free educational loan for poor students promised by the Ministry of Education has deprived many children of education opportunities.

NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina instructed the respective ministries to address the issues raised in the session in the next meeting.
