Tarun Dal protests inflation and corruption

Pokhara : Tarun Dal, the youth organization of the Nepali Congress, has said policy-level corruption and ‘tax terrorism’ were on the rise in the country along with market inflation.

Addressing a news conference here today, the Dal’s Kaski district committee president Manoj Gurung hit out at the government for failing to control the price hike, policy level corruption and imposition of arbitrary tax.
He said the government has not been able to bring to book the culprits in the Nirmala Panta rape-and –murder case, warning that the Dal would launch a movement for the protection of human rights and press freedom.
The Dal’s former central member and province assembly lawmaker Mekhlal Shrestha said the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, has not launched any agitation so far giving the government the benefit of doubt that it will carry out works as per the people’s aspiration and improve the situation.
“However, it can no longer remain a mute spectator and would start a movement against price hike and corruption and for the protection of democracy and the rule of law,” he warned.
