NHRC call to save Dr KC’s life

Kathmandu : The National Human Rights Commission has urged the sides concerned to resolve the tussle between the government and Dr Govinda KC through negotiation and dialogue.

“The agreements reached by the government in the past in relation to medical education should be seriously considered and a solution sought through dialogue and talks,” reads a statement issued by NHRC Secretary Bed Bhattarai here today.
A team from the Commission took note of Dr KC’s health condition at the TU Teaching Hospital and found his health deteriorating. Hence, the Commission has drawn the attention of government to protect his life.
Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death for the past 14 days demanding enforcement of the agreement reached with him by the government on issues related to reforms in the medical education sector. This is his 16th hunger strike.
