Bijay Thapa airlifted to Kathmandu

Bhadrapur : Bijaya Thapa, who is on a fast-onto-death for the past eight days in Ilam, demanding endorsement of the National Medical Education Bill as it is, has been airlifted to Kathmandu after his health started to deteriorate.

Thapa who was under the care of doctors at Bhadrapur-based Mechi Zonal Hospital, has been taken to Kathmandu on a helicopter at 10 am today. He will be admitted to the Teaching Hospital, said Pushpa Bhandari close to Thapa.

He had started the fast-onto-death counter to a similar hunger strike launched by Dr Govinda KC demanding some revisions in the Bill.
