Kathmandu mayor and deputy mayor off to China

Kathmandu, Nov 12 : Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya and deputy mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi have left for China today.

They will participate in the China International Friendship Cities’ Conference 2018 to be held in Wuhan City of China from November 14 to November 16. The conference is organized by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China International Friendship Association (CIFCA) and Wuhan Municipal People’s Government.
The theme of the conference is – ‘Sharing Cooperation for Development Opportunities and Common Victory.’
Representatives of international cities having sister city relations and organizations are attending the conference which has been organized with the objective of building modern and environment-friendly cities, and of exchanging rich experiences for a shared prosperity.
Lhasa city of Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China has invited the Kathmandu Metropolis to the conference. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has also been nominated for the Outstanding Foreign Friendship City of Tibet Autonomous Award.
The KMC mayor and deputy mayor and the team accompanying them will return home on Saturday after attending the conference.
KMC ward no 1 chairman Bharat Lal Shrestha has been assigned as the acting mayor to look after the regular works of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City during the absence of mayor Shakya.
