Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali participates in meetings

New York, Sept 28 : Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali organized an informal luncheon at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Council of Minister’s level, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, here today. Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SAARC member countries had attended the luncheon, Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations stated in a press release.

In his opening statement at the luncheon, Minister Gyawali insisted that the SAARC process should be effective and result-oriented for the wellbeing of the people of the region.
The other participating ministers stressed on effective implementation of the decisions taken by the SAARC Summit. They also held discussions on various topics related to reinvigorating the SAARC process.
Meantime, Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali participated in the annual ministerial meeting of The Group of 77 and China. The meeting held discussions on the theme, ‘Issues of Effects of Border in Youth Employment and Productive Capacity’.
Minister Gyawali also participated in the high-level ministerial meeting of Group of Friends of Mediation.
Also today, he met with Minister of International Development of Norway, Nikolai Astrup. During the meeting discussions were held on Norwegian cooperation in Nepal as well as on other topics, the press release stated.
Charge d’ Affaires of the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, Nirmal Raj Kafle, organized a dinner reception on Thursday evening in honour of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the Nepali delegation which is here in New York to participate in the 73rd UNGA.
