Apex Court bans unlawful sale of liquor

Kathmandu, Sept 3 : The apex court has issued an order in the name of the government to prevent unlawful sale of liquor.

A divisional bench of justice duo, Om Prakash Mishra and Tej Bahadur KC, on Monday ordered the government to stop illegal production and sale of alcoholic beverages.
The apex court also has instructed the government to effectively implement the Liquor Act which has specified definite time, age group, place and shop for liquor sale.
The order also stated that the alcohol was the main cause behind violence against women and also directed to prevent the use of women in advertisement.
The court ruling came in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Bishnu Prasad Pokharel of Jury Nepal.
