Karki wins Madan Puraskar; Jagadambashree to Manandhar

Kathmandu, Aug 27 : The Madan Puruskar Guthi has decided to present this year's 'Madan Puraskar' or Award 2074 to fiction writer Neelam Karki Niharika for her novel 'Yogmaya'.

‘Yogmaya’ – a novel based on the biography of rebellion Yogmaya was chosen for Madan Award, stated a press release issued by the Guthi. The Guthi took the decision to provide the award bagging Rs 200,000 to Karki today.
Likewise, ‘the Jagadambashree award’ is to be provided to child literary writer and translator Shanta Das Manandhar. The award carries a purse of Rs 200,000.
Guthi Chairperson Kunda Dixit shared that the decision was made to dedicate the Jagadambashree Award of the Year 2074 BS to Manandhar who has been writing untiringly for the promotion of child literature for the past five decades.
Among the best literary creations nominated out of total 253 books published in 2074 for Madan Award were ‘Kairan’ of Dhruba Satya Pariyar, ‘Nathiya’ of Saraswoti Pratikshya, ‘Paathshala’ of Tirtha Gurung, ‘Bhuyan’ of Yagyasha, ‘Yaar’ of Nayanraj Pandey, ‘Lumbini Gaun of Raj Manglak and ‘Himali Darshan’ of Mohan Baidya.
Instituted in 2012 BS, the Madan Award was first given away to ‘Hamro Loksanskriti (Our Folk Culture)’ towards prose genre, ”Chittaranjan Nepali’s ‘General Bhimsen Thapa’ towards social science category and Balaram Joshi’s ‘Adhikbhibhav Sthir Biddyut Utpadak’ towards science category.
The Jagadambashree Award was set up in memory of Madan Shumsher’s wife Jgadamba in 2045 BS.
