Forecast of heavy rainfall

CB Adhikari/ Kathmandu, Aug. 6 : Different parts of the nation have witnessed medium-range to heavy rainfall for the past three days due to impact of low pressure monsoon.

As the monsoon low pressure line was near to Nepal, particularly central and western region, rainfall has occurred across the country including the Kathmandu valley, according to weather expert Min Kumar Aryal.
According to Aryal, heavy rainfall is likely in some belts of central and western regions including the Kathmandu valley this night. However, there would be gradual improvement in the weather from Wednesday.
Likewise, issuing a bulletin, the Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the weather would be clear in the afternoon while the rainfall is likely in most parts of the country in the night while heavy rainfall is expected in one or the two region of the western region.

As per the details from the Division, Kathmandu recorded 44 ml rainfall while Nepalgunj recorded the highest volume of rainfall with 64 ml. Okhaldhunga, Birendra Nagar, Simara, Pokhara, Dagn and Biratnagar also witnessed the rainfall.
The rainfall up to 50 ml except in high hills and Himalayan region is termed as medium-sized rain and more than 50 ml is regarded as heavy rainfall, according to the experts. Likewise, the rainfall recorded more than 100 ml is called maximum rainfall.
The Weather Forecasting Division has warned that flood is likely in the major rivers and the rivers flowing through the Chure and hilly areas due to continuous rainfall in the country.
In its bulletin, the Division has asked the people residing nearby Kamala, Bagmati and Kankai to be cautious of flood. Similarly, the rivers flowing through the Chure and hills of Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Surkhet, Jhapa, Morang and Sindhuli could get swollen because of flash-floods thereby needing people’s attention.
