DLA gets Adhikari as new President

Chitwan, July 30 : The 10th National General Convention of the Democratic Lawyers' Association (DLA) Nepal concluded at Gaindakot, electing a 43-member new working committee under leadership of Yogendra Bahadur Adhikari.

Adhikari won the election receiving 432 votes while his nearest rival Sitaram KC got 334 votes. Suresh Kumar Poudel was elected as the Vice-President, while Sishma Baral became vice-President unopposed under woman category.
Similarly, Murari Khadka and Rajan Dahal were elected unopposed as Vice-Presidents of Province no 1 and 2 respectively.
Raju Katuwal, Phanindraraj Koirala and Gokarna Singh Thapa were elected as Vice-Presidents of province no 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Moreover, Bir Bahadur Jethara was elected Vice-President for province 6 and Khadga Bahadur Sijapati for province no 7.
The General Convention also elected Laxmi Devi Dahal Rawal to the post of General Secretary, Sudha Khatiwada Koirala as Treasurer, Khadka Bahadur Budhathoki (Subas) as Secretary under open category and Bishnu Basyal as the Secretary under women category.
Out of 1,131 representatives, only 894 had cast votes.
