Sports generate competent human resources for nation: Speaker

Tulsipur, July 25 : Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has spoken of the need of carrying out a feasibility study to develop the country into a sports hub.
Speaking at a programme organised to lay a foundation stone for a stadium going to be constructed at Belljhundi of Dang and announce the Tulsipur Sub Metropolis a ‘sport city ‘ here today, the Speaker described the current time ‘the era of youths and sports’. According to him, sport is one of the means of generating competent human resources for the nation. He expressed his hope that the construction of a stadium here would contribute to the further advancement of sports sector at home.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma, insisted that all should pay attention to ensuring the timely construction of infrastructure by meeting all required standards. Defining the sports as the symbol of pride, health and prosperity of all, he spoke of the necessity of the development of sports sector to establish the national identity.
As stated by NSC member-secretary Keshab Kumar Bista on the occasion, an advance technology will be applied in the construction of stadium. Similarly, efforts are on to develop Itahari and Pokhara into ‘sport cities’.
The stadium going to be constructed at the cost of Rs 240 million will have the capacity of accommodating 30,000 people. There is a contract for completing the construction by coming mid December.
