Nepal participating in international judo championship

Kathmandu, July 12 : Nepal is participating in two separate international level judo championships to be held in Hong Kong and Macau.

A two-member team comprising judoka Sonia Bhatta and instructor Sunita Magar is leaving here today for Hong Kong to participate in the championships.
Bhatta will first participate in the Asian Cup Cadet and Junior Judo Championship to be held in Hong Kong on July 14 and 15. Then she will be contending in another judo championship to be held in Macau on July 20-22. Bhatta will be contesting in the championship under the under-44 Kg women cadet category. Magar will be the instructor in both the events.
President of Nepal Olympic Committee and parliamentarian Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Nepal Judo Association president Deepak Harsha Bajracharya bid farewell to the Nepali team at a function held here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, NOC president Shrestha said they were sending the players for participation in the judo championships in view of preparation to the Youth Olympics going to be held in Argentina after three months. Bhatta was selected for the Youth Olympics.
Eight sports associations revoked
Meanwhile, National Sports Council has revoked the registration of eight various sports associations for not carrying out sports activities, renewing their audit reports, and holding the elections, among other reasons.
The NSC has annulled the registration of Nepal Baghchal Association, Nepal Bridge Association, Nepal Shinjinkai Karate Association, All Nepal School Sports Association, Gorkha Action Martial Arts Association Nepal, Nepal Asihara Kaikan Karate Do Association, Aviation Sports Association Nepal and Nepal Amateur Kick-boxing Association.
