NEPSE new CEO assumes office

Kathmandu, July 9: The government has appointed Ramesh Aryal as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Ltd.
Aryal, under-secretary at the Ministry of Finance, was appointed on the post for the time being. He assumed office today itself. NEPSE Board of Directors’ chair Laxman Neupane administered oath to the newly appointed chief. Aryal replaced Chandra Singh Saud whose appointment turned invalid with the recent decision of the Council of Ministers to revoke the political appointments made by the erstwhile government led by the Nepali Congress.
NEPSE suffers a fall
Meanwhile, the domestic share market suffered a fall today as the NEPSE index slipped 18.33 points to close at 1,206 points.
The sensitive sub-index that measures the share values of ‘A’ class companies plummeted 3.89 points to sit at 253.84 points. The NEPSE records the total turnover of Rs 400,887,274 where 1,065,486 units of share of a total 167 companies were traded.
Two sub-indices (trading; and manufacturing and production), however, increased by 0.25 and 7.43 points, respectively today compared to the previous day while other sub-indices concerning banking, hotel, development, hydropower, finance, insurance, others and microfinance closed by posting red indicating a fall in their share values.
