NC’s weakness behind eroding parliamentary system: Leader Sitaula

Kathmandu, July 3 : Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said parliamentary system was enfeebled after Nepali Congress' declined strength.

During a talk programme on role of the late Girija Prasad Koirala in the establishment of republic organized on the occasion of 95th birth anniversary of late GP Koirala here Tuesday, he said NC’s role of strong opposition was imperative to strengthen parliamentary system. “NC must not bow down with the lure of parliament committee seats. It’s NC’s responsibility to bolster parliamentary system,” he argued.
He further said NC must play vigorous role to secure Deputy Speaker of the parliament because the constitution has provisioned that Speaker and Deputy Speaker should belong to different political parties.
NC leader and lawmaker Gagan Thapa said, “Girijababu was not only a politician but also a political icon that brought the king to size and established republic in the country.”
Leader Pradip Poudel opined that some NC leaders were still feeling that they were the ruling party.
