22 households displaced due to inundation

Dhangadhi, July 3 : Twenty two households have been displaced due to inundation caused by the swollen Kandra, Kanda and Patharaiya rivers following incessant rains in Bhajani municipality and surrounding areas in the south eastern part of Kailali district.
Fourteen households at Puliyapur village and the eight families of Dhamidhara of Bhajani Municipality have been evacuated to safe places, the Area Police Office, Hasuliya stated.
Meanwhile, around 200 houses have become waterlogged at Lalbojhi, Naubasta, Kuti and Kanda settlements north of the local Hulaki highway.
Many families have been sheltered at the Safe House in the localities while many more families are living in temporary tents on the Hulaki highway, according to police.
The Assistant Chief District Officer, Janak Raj Bhatta, said that the district administration office has identified flood and water-induced disaster prone areas in the district and urged the local bodies to be prepared for the situation.
