Rabi Lamichhane informs of quitting US citizenship

Kathmandu, June 21 : Journalist Rabi Lamichhane has informed the Home Ministry that he has begun process to quit the US passport and citizenship, according to Press Council Nepal.
Press Council Nepal, in a press statement today, shared that the Council had received two complaints against Lamichhane demanding action against him with the reason that he had been violating laws relating to work permit and immigration for four years. And while asking clarification, Lamichhane had informed that he was not a foreign national nor was a journalist, but taken work permit, added the Council.

The Council inquired him further after seeing his incomplete and objectionable comments on social networking sites about his Nepal stay and whether he had work permit.
Later, the Council urged him to abide by existing rule, laws and professional integrity as he furnished the information at the Immigration Department that he initiated process to quit the US citizenship and passport by submitting the required fee to the US Embassy.
