NHRC for implementation of international commitments by govt: Chair Sharma

Biratnagar, June 8 : Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Anupraj Sharma, has said the NHRC was for full implementation of the international commitments regarding the protection of human rights, as government has signed on different 19 such commitments.
Speaking in an interaction organized by People’s Rights Campaign Nepal on ‘Human Rights in Current Political Context’, Chairman Sharma said the acts of the commission would be amended for the facilitation of the implementation of such commitments by the government. He, however, said the incumbent government could be given time for protection of human rights issues.
Similarly, Nepal Bar Association Chairman Sher Bahadur KC said arresting persons based on the creeds and thoughts was a violation of the human rights.
Civil society campaigner Dr Sundar Mani Dixit urged all including political parties to be serious in the cases of human rights.
