‘Budget to have impact on communications development’

Kathmandu, June 8 : Stakeholders concerned have said that the budget would have a great impact on the development of communications. The size of the budget is bigger this year, which would help in its development, they viewed.
Speaking at the event with the theme of ‘communications sector in new budget’ organised here by Sanchar Kendra (Centre) Nepal, Community Party of Nepal leader Surendra Pandey underlined the need of paying attention to the implementation of budget programmes for the development of communications sector.
“Journalist accident insurance and the move to making the central journalism department of Tribhuvan University a journalism research centre are good steps incorporated in the budget. Communications sector could take a leap if all these programmes get implemented,” said Pandey, also former Finance Minister.
He pointed out the need for guaranteeing journalist’s security by strictly enforcing laws related to journalism.
He was of the view that journalists should help implement national pride projects through their profession.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s press advisor Dr Kundan Aryal asked people and concerned authorities not to cast doubt on budget implementation.
Chairperson of Nepal Consumers Welfare Protection Forum Jyoti Baniya criticised the budget as not favouring the welfare of workers.
