Sagarmatha is Nepal’s identity and pride, says CPN Chair Dahal

Kathmandu : Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) has an important role in spreading the identity of Nepal and the Nepalis in the international arena.
Addressing a programme organised by Everest Summiteers Association to mark the International Mt Everest Day here today, he said, “Many people have laid their life in course of climbing Mt Everest also, but the climbing expedition has also helped take forward human’s dialogue and interaction with nature in a strong manner. Nepal has been promoted in the international sector as well.”
Chair Dahal said the Mt. Everest has not only promoted culture, civilisation, unity and dignity of the Nepali nation and the history of Nepali people but also the unity and dignity of the people worldwide.
The CPN chair also praised the Association saying it has established the contribution of the climbers in humanitarian service and social service.
Noting that Sagarmatha is the identity and pride of Nepal, he said it is necessary to publicise the Mt Everest more. He also mentioned that many records have been set on Mt Everest after its first ascent by Tenjing Norgey and Edmund Hillary.
Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Bina Magar, president of the Association Maya Sherpa among other speakers also shed light on the value of Mt Everest.
