Two radio stations suffer damages in lightning strike

Dang, May 1: Two radio stations have suffered losses in last night’s thunderstorm coupled with lightning strikes.

In the unseasonable hailstorm and lightning strikes, Radio Sanjivani and Radio Tulsipur suffered damages to its antenna, frequency divider, telephone hardware and transmitter. The radio’s regular broadcast has been disrupted following the impact, Radio Sanjivani Station Manager Sharad Regmi shared.

The cost of the damages incurred has been estimated to cross Rs 300,000. Meanwhile, Radio Tulsipur’s loss has been valued at Rs 900,000. The radio station’s tower was uprooted in the storm.

Radio Administrative Board’s Chair Deepu Giri said the radio station will start regular broadcast once a technical team from Kathmandu sets up a new tower.
