PM Oli for development of Lumbini Buddhist University

Butwal, April 29 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the existing trend of Universities being led by the PM as chancellor will be ended soon.
It may be noted that the Prime Minister is the chancellor of all universities in the country after the abolition of monarch system in Nepal.
Addressing the first convocation ceremony of Lumbini Buddhist University here Sunday, Prime Minister Oli said such trend will be ended soon after enacting necessary legislation. He added that the University had played a notable role in promoting Buddhist philosophy. “Buddhist education is not an ordinary matter as it is still relevant since 2562 years so we should adopt it in the development of the nation”, Oli said.
Prime Minister Oli further committed to supporting the university to make it as Buddhist Centre for foreign students.
Similarly, joint chancellor and Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel stressed developing Lumbini University as a strong university as it teaches philosophy in different languages. Vice-chancellor at the University Naresh Man Bajracharya focused on developing Buddhist philosophy.
As many as 107 students who completed Masters and PHD programmes were conferred on the occasion.
Vice chancellor of Buddhist & Pali University, Sri-Lanka Prof. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thero delivered the convocation remarks noting that the university had important role in disseminating Buddhist Education and philosophy.
