NC’s Mahasamiti meeting in August

Kathmandu, April 29 : The Nepali Congress is going to hold its Mahasamiti meeting in coming August.

Concluding the Central Committee meeting of the party on Sunday, the CC meeting decided to hold Mahasamiti meeting by preparing for necessary revision and amendment of party’s statute after collecting suggestion from its sister organizations, said Party Office Chief Secretary, Krishna Prasad Poudel.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to organize gathering of District Presidents in mid-June. It also extended gratitude towards the Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government for holing three-tier of elections successfully for constitution implementation.

The meeting also drew the conclusion that election alliance between CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) was the main reason behind party’s defeat in the elections.

The party also decided to form a Statute Amendment Committee for timely revision in party’s statute for restructuring of the party as per the state restructuring and has directed the Disciplinary Committee to forward necessary process to make party more disciplined.

Similarly, the meeting also objected over the act of the incumbent government regarding its interference on the rights of independent judiciary and other constitutional bodies. It said that any activities of the government to centralize the rights of government bodies against sentiments and aspiration of the Constitution would not be acceptable to the NC.

The meeting also drew the government’s attention to create environment conducive to guaranteeing constitutional supremacy, independent judiciary, and press freedom.

The party took the decision to provide membership to active members of the then Nepal Democratic Forum led by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar as per the understanding reached during party unification as well as to complete remaining adjustment task within a month.
