Coordination committee decides to start preparation for party unification

Kathmandu: A meeting of the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) party merger coordination committee held today at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar has decided to make preparations for announcement of party unification on April 22.

The meeting also initiated discussions on the proposals on organisational and ideological taskforces presented in the Committee meeting on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Committee member and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Narayankaji Shrestha said that remaining issues in this regard would be finalised soon through a next the coordination meeting after the return of Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli from India visit.

Shrestha informed that an understanding has been reached to start preparations from both the respective parties for the party unification announcement acting on the recommendations of both taskforces.

The CPN (UML) has called its central committee meeting for April 20 for party unification preparations.
Both the taskforces have suggested announcing party unification on April 22, the establishment day of Nepal Communist Party.
