Foreign Minister Gyawali attending NAM Ministerial Conference

Kathmandu : Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, will lead the Nepali delegation to the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan on 5-6 April.
Issuing a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said other members of the delegation will be Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, Durga Prasad Bhattarai, and Counselor Surendra Thapa.
The Ministerial Conference will be preceded by the senior officials’ meeting on 3-4 April. It will assess the progress since the last summit of the NAM and prepare for the upcoming summit to be held in 2019.
The theme of the conference has been set to be “Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development”. Nepal is a founding member of the non-aligned movement and itsprinciples constitute important elements of Nepal’s foreign policy.
