New houses should be multi-disaster resilient-NRA CEO

Khotang : National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Chief Executive Officer Yubaraj Bhusal said that the to-be-constructed houses should be multi-disaster resilient.
Addressing a discussion programme held in Khotang on post-earthquake reconstruction Thursday, he stressed the need of building new houses to be resilient of multiple disasters including flood, fire, storm and lightning strike besides earthquake.
“As our country is prone to several disasters, we need to be cautious to make our house multi-disaster resilient”, he added.
It is sad to note that the earthquake devastated structures have yet to be reconstructed, he said, informing that the NRA is putting all-out efforts to complete reconstruction related works this year.
He also directed his subordinate employees to expedite the post-quake reconstruction works to render relief to survivors.
On the occasion, the earthquake victims complained that they have not yet received house sketch and technical advice for reconstruction.
As many as 8,443 households had turned to be quake victims in Khotang having two municipalities and eight rural municipalities.
