Nepal-India joint survey team to resolve Kanchanpur border dispute

Bhimdattanagar, Kanchanpur : Security agencies of both Nepal and India have reached an agreement to wait for a joint Nepal-India survey team to resolve a border dispute at Belauri Municipality-10 in Kanchanpur.
A dispute emerged after the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB), the Indian border security force, obstructed a road construction on Nepali territory, the locals claimed. The SSB claimed that the road construction is within the no man’s land.
This argument prompted a meeting between concerned authority and security agencies of both the countries that took place on Tuesday and decided in this regard.
The meeting was attended by State Assembly member of Kanchanpur constituency 1 Kulbir Chaudhary, mayor of Belauri Municipality Poti Lal Chaudhary, Inspector Surendra Bahadur Bam and Bhim Singh Thapa of Armed Police Force Border Security Post, Belauri from Nepali side and Chief of SSB, Kampojnagar, India, Sandip Kumar Singh.
The meeting also forged a consensus to maintain peace and harmony between local people and SSB and control cross-border crimes, said the meeting attendant Poti Lal.
