PCN writes to online editor to consult on news of IGP appointment

Kathmandu : The Press Council Nepal (PCN) on Wednesday has written to three editors of different online portals to be present along with clarification in writing for holding discussions on news dissemination about appointment of Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police.
Earlier, the Metropolitan Police Range had written to the editors to reveal the news source.
However, the PCN has taken initiatives to start investigations on the news dissemination after different media organizations expressed their reservation over the police meddling.
Acting Chairman of PCN Kishor Shrestha has written to the editor of sushasannews.com to be present at 11:00 am on 12 January along with the concerns raised about the news source.
The Nepal Police is investigating into the fake report on performance evaluation submitted by Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Nabaraj Silwal at the Supreme Court regarding the IGP appointment.
