FCAN decries price hike in construction materials

Kathmandu  : The Federation of Contractors Association of Nepal (FCAN) has asked the government to withdraw the price hike of fuel, cement, steel, pebbles, sands and other highly essential materials needed for construction development.
In a press statement on Thursday, FCAN President Bishnu Bhai Shrestha has asked the government to call back its decision immediately terming it impractical. “Unnatural and sudden rise in the price of the construction materials has affected the construction works across the country and the construction cost has also increased ultimately putting the contractors at the receiving end,” reads the statement.
The FCAN has also asked the government to strictly enforce the price adjustment provision mentioned in Clause 55 of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 BS.
