Budget should be increased in education sector: report says

Kathmandu : Education experts and different aid agencies in the education sector have stated that privatization was contributing to deepening inequality and segregation of society.

A report on Nepal: Patterns of Privatization in Education: A case study of low-fee private schools and private chain schools, released here today has stressed on the need to increase government investment in Public education. It also emphasizes the need for strong governance in the Nepali education sector and a careful monitoring of the quality of the tuition provided in the so-called ‘low-fee’ for-profit schools.

The programme was organized by education International (EI) Pacific region in the capital.
Minister of State for Ministry of Education, Shesh Nath Adhikari, while releasing the report, assured to increase the budget in education by 10 to 15 per cent.
