Democrats should win elections for stability – PM Deuba

Sundarijal (Kathmandu) : Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said nationality, democracy and socialism would be enabled if the path shown by legendary leader BP Koirala was followed.

Prime Minister Deuba said this while addressing the BP Koirala Democratic Awards Distribution Function organized by BP Museum Committee at Sundarijal today on the occasion of the 104th birth anniversary of first people-elected Prime Minister BP Koirala.

On the occasion, he stressed the urgency for the Nepali Congress to win all elections for the consolidation of democracy.
“NC win is obvious in all upcoming elections if there is no betrayal. The party would not tolerate saboteurs. Stern actions would be taken”, Deuba added.
PM Deuba recalled that BP had established himself as a high-profile leader of the small country in the world community.

Also speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said BP’s dream for country development would be materialized when Nepal’s higher potentials of agriculture, tourism and water resources are translated into actions.
“There are several organizations in the name of BP Koirala but they should perform in a result-oriented manner. The BP Thought Centre still has its relevance”, Minister Karki added.

At the programme, PM Deuba handed over the ‘BP Koirala Democratic Award’ to parliamentarian and socialist thinker Pradeep Giri.
Likewise, the ‘Freedom Fighter Honour’ was given away to former parliamentarian Lekhnath Neupane. The award each carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and letter of appreciation.

Feted personality Giri said that the idea of nationalism put forth by the NC is all-inclusive where all political parties and thoughts can be accommodated.
“All parties have come to participate in the local elections in Province-2 even after the deferral of elections for four months. The government should increase its interventions in health and education sectors and pay attention to expand employment opportunities”, Giri noted.

Several leaders and well-wishers of the NC were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, some 29 political activists including CPN (Maoist Centre) Gokarneswor Town Committee Chairperson Sita Tamang joined NC.
