Bhimdattanagar : Nepali Congress’ Bir Bahadur Sunar has been elected the mayor of Mahakali municipality of Kanchanpur.
He garnered 5,134 votes against 4,716 received by his closest rival Kishor Limbu from CPN (UML). In the deputy mayor’s election, UML’s Chini Giri registered victory with 5, 277 votes under her belt.
Giri’s closest contender, Ganga Joshi, from NC garnered 4,371 votes. A total of 13, 858 votes were cast during the second phase of local level elections held in Mahakali municipality.
