Yeti Carpet Industry catches fire, property worth over Rs 1.5 billion gutted

Bhaktapur, June 18: Property worth more than Rs 1.5 billion has been gutted in a massive fire at Yeti Carpet Industry in Bhaktapur Municipality-2.

The fire that started from 11:30 pm on Saturday was brought under control at 7:30 am today with the help of eight fire engines.

Manager of the Industry, Dharmendra Yadav, said that as per the preliminary estimation, goods worth more than Rs 1.5 billion were gutted in the fire.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Krishna Prasain, said that the industry, run by Anil Kedia, caught fire after the transformer exploded. Vehicles, buildings and a house of local were damaged by the fire.

No human casualties were reported in the incident although 35 employees were on duty at the industry at that time.
Meanwhile, the industry caught fire again at 1:00 pm today. The fire damaged a three-store house of Krishnaram Pati. The fire was doused after half-an hour with the help of fire engines.
