Dhanusha : Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Province No. 2 Bijay Kumar Yadav has been charged of thrashing Bidyanath Jha, the Secretary of Ministry at Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment of the Province No. 2.
Secretary Jha has accused Minister Yadav of slapping the former for not selecting an NGO close to the Minister for a poverty alleviation programme. It is said that Minister Yadav was piling pressure on the officials to select the NGO.
“Minister called me in his chamber and slapped me,” Secretary Jha said.
Of the 193 NGOs, only 40 NGOs have been selected in the initial phase for the micro-enterprise programme.
After the ill-treatment of the minister, the officials had staged a protest at the main gate of the minister’s office. But, the police held the officials following the incident.
However, Minister Yadav has refuted the allegation of beating to the secretary.
Meanwhile, a three member probe committee has been formed under the leadership of Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of the Province No. 2 Gyanendra Yadav for the investigations into the incident, according to the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of the Ministers. Chief Secretary of the Province Dipak Subedi and Secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of the Ministers Hari Phuyal are the members in the panel.
