Dr Giri cremated at Pashupati electric crematorium

Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister Dr Tulasi Giri was cremated at the electric crematorium at the Pashupati premises on Wednesday.

Saraha Giri, wife of Dr Giri, said that state honour was not received at Dr Giri’s final rites as per his wish. Although last rites of Dr Giri were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat, other rituals in the name of Dr Giri would not be performed, according to the family source.
Former Deputy Prime Ministers– Bhim Rawal and Kamal Thapa, Nepali Congress central committee member Pradeep Giri, former minister Sunil Bahadur Thapa, among other leaders reached Pashupati Aryaghat to pay their last respects to later Giri.
Dr Giri is the first former Prime Minister to be cremated at the electric crematorium, according to the Pashupati Area Development Trust.
Suffering from liver cancer, Dr Giri passed away on Tuesday at the age of 93.
