Awards for 14 sports talents and journalists

Kathmandu, Nov 30 : The Ministry of Youth and Sports today honoured 14 sports talents and journalists in recognition of their contribution to the respective fields.

Those awarded are Kamal Bahadur Adhikari (weight lifting); Yan Kumari Chaulagain (taekwondo); Bishwarupa Budha and Som Bahadur Kumal ( athletics); Neeta Kumari Shah ( volleyball) and Ranjana Dhami ( para-taekwondo).
Athletics coach Hari Bahadur Rokaya; Badminton’s referee Deepak Thapa; sports doctor Ajay Shamber JB Rana and Nepal Bosiya Association (from organizations) have received the ‘Sports Talent Award’ carrying a purse of Rs 100,000 each.
Journalists received the ‘Youth Journalism Award’.
Likewise, other honoured media-persons include Sabita Sharma from Gorkhapatra Daily (Dang), Lila Prakash Chand from Community Information Network, (Banke), Ram Kumar Rijal from Janata Television (Makawanpur) and Bishwas Budathoki from Onlinekhabar (Baglung). They received Rs 50,000 each.
Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma, member-secretary of the National Sports Council Keshab Kumar Bista and Vice President Pitambar Timalsina jointly handed the award amid a programme here.
On the occasion, Minister Bishwokarma said such honour would encourage athletes, while stressing the need for reforming shortcomings (if any) in sport sector.
