Home Minister Thapa asks APF to control smuggling at borders

Kathmandu, Oct 8 : Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, has directed the Armed Police Force to be more active to control smuggling and criminal activities along the border transit points.

Directing the Inspector General of the APF, the Additional Inspector General and the Deputy Inspector General, who are chiefs of provinces, at the home Ministry on Monday, Home Minister Thapa asked them to carry out activities in order to give results within three months in this regard. He also made the police officials aware of paying special attention as smuggling might increase via border point during the festive season.
The Home Minister asked them to fulfill their responsibility honestly, saying responsibility of border, disaster management and peace and security has been given to the APF.
Minister Thapa further said that the Home Ministry has launched a campaign to control liquor and ban drugs, adding that the APF should play special role in this campaign as well.
