Free social services at Chandragiri

Kathmandu, Aug 19 : At a time when the local level governments have been criticized heavily for imposing unnecessary taxes on their citizens, the Chandragiri municipality has stood aloof from the crowd.
It has made free the major recommendations concerning social services provided by the municipality. Accordingly, recommendations for citizenship certificate, birth registration, marriage registration, migration, registration of divorce case, death registration, recommendation for scholarship, pension, and benefits for the quake survivors are all provided without any charge.
The social service tax (recommendation tariff) has been made free for this financial year too from all the 15 ward offices of the municipality, according to Mayor Ghanashyam Giri. This was free last year too, and we have no policy to charge fee on such recommendations.
As a result, the municipality residents are happy to be enjoying such service, while the municipality also sets an exemplary deed for other local government units to take note of.
