Kalanki’s ‘underpass’ likely to come into operation by next month

Kathmandu, May 23 : Country’s first ‘underpass’ route in Kalanki is likely to come into operation by the last week of coming June. The under-construction underpass that falls under the ongoing Koteshwor-Balkhu Bridge-Kalanki Ring Road Reform Project has neared the final phase.
The project is supported by the Government of China. The 800-meter long structure with four lanes is taken as historic in infrastructure development in the country. Finishing works on Kalanki-Khasibazar section (400 meters) have been already completed.
The project is awaiting the completion of the finishing of remaining 400-meter Kalanki-Bafal section to handover it the authority concerned, Project chief Prakash Bhandari told the RSS.
Likewise, works to widen the 10.4 kilometres Koteshwor-Balkhu Bridge-Kalanki road from four lanes to eight lanes have reached final phase with around 90 percent progress.
