Homeless, mentally retarded girl rescued from Baitadi

Baitadi : The police have rescued a homeless and mentally retarded girl from Srikot in Dogadakedar rural municipality, Baitadi. The girl who is in her 15s and identifies herself as Gita Bhatta was found on the streets at Khochlek bazaar on Tuesday, said Assistant Sub Inspector Shyam Singh Mahara.
“She wore torn clothes. She cannot exactly locate her birthplace. She sometime said she is from Mahendranagar and other time from Darchula. She only laughs every time upon being asked what is her name and where is she from,” he said.
The rescued girl is in the care of the sage house of the Women and Children Office, Baitadi, said Inspector Kamal Bista, adding that the girl would be handed to her family once they come in contact.
