4,318 women disappeared from Banke in past 16 years

Nepalgunj  : Banke-based Maiti Nepal regional office has received a total of 4,318 cases of women disappearance in the past 16 years.
The reports include 834 cases in the past one year. Most of the missing women were trafficked to the neighbour India or the Gulf for flesh trade, said data made public here in Sunday.
Of the total missing, whereabouts of only 619 have been found, said regional coordinator for the Maiti Nepal Keshab Koirala.
Most of them were rescued from various places of India, he added. Approximately 172 have been provided jobs after being trained in skill-oriented works, out of the rescued women, he said.
