UML wins HoR seat in Manang, Congress and independent bag PA

Besisahar, Lamjung  : CPN-UML’s Palden Chepang Gurung has been elected to the House of Representatives from Manang with 2,300 votes. His nearest rival was Nepali Congress Manang Chair and former Minister of State Tek Bahadur Gurung, who got 2,021 votes.
Of the total 4,312 votes cast, 16 were termed invalid, according to the District Election Office. Manang has the lowest number of voters in terms of district in the country.
Meanwhile, NC’s Chinta Bahadur Ghale won a seat to the Provincial Assembly ‘A’ defeating UML’s Dorje Dungul Gurung by 102 votes. Ghale got 998 votes while Gurung received 896 votes.
In the provincial assembly ‘B’ constituency, independent candidate Rajiv Gurung aka Dipak Manange was elected with 1,410 votes. His closest contender was Karma Gurung of Nepal Congress, who got 1,020 votes. Rajiv Gurung contested the election as an independent candidate after his recommendation from the UML in Manang drew widespread protest. UML’s official candidate Khanda Lama Gurung later withdrew her candidacy in support of Rajiv.
