Kathmandu : The process to forward the works of Lhasa-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Lumbini railroad is to begin in near future as per the talks held between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara and the high level officials of China, including Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
DPM Mahara, who is currently in the China visit, said, “When I assured the main leaders of China during the program on ‘One Belt, One Road’ that he had been there with the common and positive view from all major political parties of Nepal, the Chinese Premier Keqiang expressed that he would take initiative to accelerate the works as per the agreements Nepal and China had in the past on the air and railroad connectivity between the two countries.”
According to media and public relations coordinator of the DPM, Hari Lamichhane, DPM Mahara also extended an invitation to the Chinese President Xi Jinping for Nepal visit.
Likewise, Chinese Premier Keqiang extended an invitation for China visit to Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba through DPM Mahara.
During the meeting, China offered positive response after DPM Mahara urged the Chinese side to open Tatopani and Kerung points.
On the occasion, the Chinese Premier lauded Nepal’s commitment to One-China policy and expressed happiness for Nepal’s internal political situation moving towards right way.
Similarly, DPM Mahara held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday in Beijing.
During the meeting, Yi said that China would cooperate with Nepal for mutual relations, bilateral and multilateral interests.
He assured for support in Nepal’s reconstruction bids, investment promotion in the field of trade, energy and tourism as well as high-level visits between the two countries and establishing direct air services to Beijing and Chengdu from Kathmandu.
Furthermore, DPM Mahara and State Councilor of China Yang Jiechi held a meeting and discussed the issues that Nepal can benefit from the One Belt One Road.
