Kathmandu: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said Nepal has internalized the policy of making the persons with disabilities (PWD) self-dependent by bringing them into the mainstream of development. Not only care and kindness but conferring rights is important for this, she added.
Giving a message on the 25th International Day of Persons with Disability marked every year on December 3, President Bhandari extended best wishes to all PWD, their parents and the agencies and organizations working for the welfare of the PWD. She said efforts were on in Nepal to harmonize the laws by implementing UN convention on rights of the PWD.
“It is our common duty to make the PWD able to enjoy the fundamental rights by adopting inclusive policy in education, health, livelihood, sports and entertainment and by restoring them in the family and society,” she mentioned in the message. RSS
